Junior Team Activities
On Tuesday 2nd August the students from Westport, Greymouth and Nelson got together for some team activities in the classroom. This allowed the teachers from the four Upper South sites to take part in Structured Literacy professional development workshops with the visiting consultant from Learning Matters, Fiona Wilder.
On Wednesday 3rd August the Upper South Junior School students and staff had a great team-building excursion. We were very lucky to be allowed to use the Saxton stadium facilities. We had lots of different activities to complete in our small groups. The activities were table tennis, basketball, hula hoop toss, hockey, soccer, Ugg boot toss and crossing an acid creek. The morning finished up with a massive team competition which involved the whole team crawling under a line of chairs then turning around and going all the way back again. We saw some fantastic teamwork from the children, and everyone was demonstrating the school values throughout the morning. A well-earned pizza lunch was waiting for the children on their return to school. It was wonderful for the children to be able to work together across the Upper South sites.
