Nelson Y3-6 Excursion - Grampians
Year 3-6 Traversing the Land Excursion
On a typically sunny Nelson autumn morning, the Year 3-6 students from Nelson campus set off on their “Traversing the Land” excursion to the Grampian Reserve in Nelson. The children walked up and along the Tawa track and zigzagged their way up the Ronaki Track to join the Grampians Walkway along the top. The clear views over Nelson were spectacular and most children had enough energy left to continue up to the summit and the site of the transmission tower. Along the way, everyone managed to identify and count the different trees they passed, and collections of dead leaves and acorns were brought back to school. After lunch at the top, and a chance to look at the view from the lookout platform, the group took a different route down the hill and back to the car park. The excursion finished with a short visit to the new Tāhunanui plastic-free play park, Te Pā Harakeke.
Thank you from the junior school to all the parents who came along and supported our excursion as drivers or group leaders.
