OSG Exams - dates changed
To ensure that students who are impacted by the Community meetings on 11-13 August are not put at a disadvantage, we plan to put the following steps in place:
- Our internal OSG Exams for Year 11-13 students have been moved to a week later and will now start on Monday 21 August and conclude on Friday 1 September.
- Departments will plan to minimise assessments falling due during between 7 August and 18 August.
- West Coast, Auckland & Kerikeri campuses will have teacher only days on Friday 11 August. All other campuses will remain open and operational.
- It is expected that unless students are impacted by attending community meetings, travelling to meetings, or caring for visitors, all students should attend school as normal as this is an important time of the year for our students' learning. All lessons will continue as normal.
- Parents of any students who are impacted must communicate as early as possible with the Campus Principal plus all subject teachers, to allow teachers to plan around lessons missed.
- Year 11-13 students will be on exam leave from 21 August to 1 September, with the exception of Friday 25 August (Cross Country), and Wednesday 30 August (Excursion day) which will still go ahead as planned. Campuses will communicate with you directly about these events.
Year 11-13 Reports: As a result of the above change in exam timing, end-of-year reports for Year 11-13 students will now be distributed on Tuesday 10 October.
Tutorial Booking System: There have been a number of issues with the Tutorial Booking System that was introduced in 2023. Despite a huge effort, we have been unable to find suitable solutions, and therefore we have made the decision to stop using the system and revert to the 2022 process for booking tutorials, until the system is fit for purpose.
Tutorials are still to be scheduled in the timeslots where students have assigned Studies for that class on their timetable. Teachers will have an open Zoom PIN (which they get from their Canvas page) that students requiring a tutorial can access during allocated Study periods for that subject. Students may be held for a short time in waiting rooms whilst other tutorials are completed, but access will be faster and more accessible than is currently being experienced.
Please note that the tutorials themselves have proven to be a very successful way to support student learning and are an integral part of our Learning to Learn Framework. This change only applies to the system for booking tutorials and not to the tutorials themselves. Students should continue to utilise tutorials to enhance their learning.
The change of system for tutorials will take place from Monday 12 June. Our thanks to students and staff for their patience in this matter.
If you have any questions, please contact your Campus Principal.
