Year 7 Technology
The Year 7 students have been learning about yeast and how it makes bread rise. They also learned how to make butter by mixing cream to separate the butter milk from the fat. We learned that yeast creates a gas as it grows and multiplies, this helps the bread to rise. We also learned that if we left the dough for longer, it would be larger and fluffier.
Next time we will put in more salt to give the bread more flavour. You have to knead the dough for a long time and it's hard work! It takes a long time to whip cream by hand until it splits. We had fun and were very happy with our bread, the butter was delicious too.
