Greymouth Years 3-6 children read a book about 'Any Old Iron' that inspired us to make different cardboard artwork.
Jeff Thomson makes his art out of all different metals including corrugated iron. His sculptures can be found all over NZ. One of his famous sculptures is the giant gumboot which is 3.5 meters tall. It can be found in Taihape.
We used cardboard, staples and hot glue instead of iron and rivet guns. He made chickens, a gumboot, and a giant saxophone. We made fantails, flowers in a pot and a lion.
The creations turned out to be amazing, but it wasn’t as easy as we thought it would be. As you can see, some of us didn’t quite get finished in the timeframe but, we had a lot of fun!

Three and a half weeks to go until Cross Country! The term has progressed really fast and now is the time to put up your hand to help at the Cross Country ?
We have a variety of roles that need filling, it would be great if those that helped at the finish line last year could help again there, it worked really well! I will be in contact with you in the coming days.
If you could help being a course marshal, first aid support or general help on the day, please let me know via pip.hateley@nz.oneschoolglobal.com
Thanks for your help!
Take a moment to show your appreciation to a staff member, student, parent or volunteer who has made a positive impact on you in the past week/s.
