Welcome message from Matt Morrison
Hello and welcome back to 2024!
I trust that you have all had a relaxing summer break and are now ready to make the most of what promises to be an exciting year ahead. A special welcome to all of our new Year 3 students and their families, plus all of our new OSG staff. We are thrilled to have you join us at OSG and know that your educational journey will be filled with awesome learning experiences. 2024 will see us continue to build on our 3 key strategic pillars of High Performing Teams, The Learning to Learn Framework and the Campus Modernisation Programme. Many of our campuses have seen some significant work happen over the summer break and our staff and students will benefit hugely from this. A big thank you to all of our Campus Management Teams and Boards for your commitment to ensuring our campus facilities are world class.
The following newsletter contains some important information that will ensure you and your children start the 2024 school year in a stress free and positive way?. Please take the time to read through it and feel free to reach out to any of the Teaching and Learning Team if you need any more information or have any questions. As always, remember that your Campus Principal should be your first point of contact, but any of us will be only too pleased to answer any queries.
Thank you again for all your support and we look forward to working with you to ensure 2024 is a very successful year.

As Mrs Hateley mentioned in her video. We have been thinking about the upcoming Athletics Day in Nelson which is scheduled for Thursday 28th March.
We would like your feedback regarding the following ideas. Athletics Day is:
- Held on the same day at the same venue.
- Senior and Junior events held on the same day, at different areas of Saxton park.
- Senior and Junior events held on different days.
In an effort to reduce the waste on our campus, we will no longer be purchasing plastic cups to be used in the Canteens. Students need to make sure they bring their drink bottles to school. There is a drinking fountain in Westport and cooled water refill stations at both Westport and Greymouth Campuses.
Once the current supply of juice has been consumed, this will not be replenished and juice will no longer be available to purchase at school.
We encourage students to be mindful of reducing the waste that we produce as a school, and try to minimise the use of single use plastics where possible.
