The Nelson Campus Junior School children had a fantastic day participating in the RideOn Grade 1 cycle Skills programme delivered by Sport Tasman. The programme was aimed at building and developing fundamental cycle skills and encouraging children to cycle safely.

Transition
On Friday we had our first transition day for the Y6s for Greymouth, Westport and Blenheim. Here are some photos of us making NETS during maths.

Ministry of Education Professional Learning Day - 23 November
Upcoming working from home day for ALL Year 9 & 10 students - Monday 23rd November
On Monday 23rd November all OSG New Zealand senior school teachers (Yrs 9-13) will be participating in Ministry of Education directed professional learning workshops. These workshops are being held, throughout November, across all New Zealand secondary schools. The focus - NCEA changes. Teachers will provide material on Canvas for all Yr9/10 students to work on at home. Please note teachers will not be available for students during the day.
It has been tradition that the Year 12s prepare the Year 13s lunch on the final day of their schooling. A lot of time and effort went in to this amazing meal by the Year 12s.

NB: The drinks were sparkling grape juice.
The West Coast Year 12 and 13s enjoyed their sunny breakfast on Greymouth Campus to celebrate their last couple days of being at school for the year 2020. Also displayed in the pictures are a great accomplishment set on by the Year 13s, the picnic tables. This has been a great project throughout the last few weeks and many people have participated in the project working as a team to overcome challenges to complete these awesome tables!

The West Coast Year 9-13 students went to Tauranga Bay on the seniors last day where they had games of beach volleyball and the CA’s provided a yummy barbecue lunch.

Congratulations to all Y7/8 students who have just completed their persuasive speeches. The topics were varied and well thought through and there was evidence of research to support ideas. The speeches were creative and captured the attention of the audience.
A huge big ‘paki-paki’ to our speech winners.
First: Mikayla Lewis (Plastic Shouldn’t be Abolished)
Second: Tauri Powell (Why we Should Limit Fast Food in New Zealand)
Third Equal: Imogen Filleul (Helping Child Poverty in New Zealand) and Tara Woodman (We Should Eat Breakfast Everyday)
Fourth: Harriett Deck (Excessive Phone Use Isn’t Healthy)

Well done, we were proud of all of you.
Mrs Fisher, Mrs Jacobs and Ms Maharaj
Eggcellent Adventure in Blenheim
The Blenheim campus is embarking on an eggstraordinary eggcellent adventure – we are incubating fertilised hen eggs!!!
The 21 day wait for the eggs to hatch is eggcruitiating, but we are all very eggcited to meet the eggsquisite fluffy chicks when they arrive.

NB: A chick has hatched in the last couple of days of creating the newsletter! See photo below.
West Coast Y3-8 students have continued to grow their Spanish in 2020.
The senior students have supported the younger students and the learning has been exceptional.
These are examples of videos being made to share with OSG students and teachers in Argentina.
They have been delighted to receive them are presently working on a response (in video) which we are really looking forward to receiving.
On Tuesday 10 November it was decided that we would have a friendly game of Netball with the senior girls. It was a close fought game but the students came out on top winning 10-7. Well done girls!
