I would like to congratulate all students who participated in the inaugural Market Day and business challenge 'Perfect Pitch'. Our Junior Y3-10 classes had some great success with their markets, with just getting them to market was a challenge due to the lockdown earlier in the Term.
Congratulations to Dawn Hayman, Silas Hill, Briar Powell and Tudor Powell for their leadership across the Y3-6 students on the West Coast.
Further congratulations to Ida Petrie, Orla Hill, Tauri Powell, Beau Fisher, Archer Faulkner, Jett Clifford, Solitaire McLean, Perry McLean, April Malcolm, Brielle Ivory, and Montana Beatson for their commitment, perseverance and in particular their independence in developing their products for the day.
Congratulations to our winning senior Perfect Pitch Team of Paige Hill, Huberto McLean, Reef Deck and Tansi Hill.
For the seniors Y11-13, we still have the business end of the year to go, with the OneSchool Exams beginning yesterday.
Term Four Reminders
- Remember it is officially a summer Term (even though the weather may not always play ball). Please remember to wear summer uniform and this includes sunhats!
- Please encourage your children to bring water bottles that are named. We do not allow open cups in the learning centre or junior classes in order to reduce the spill risk around devices, so please ensure that students have their own, named individual and reusable drink bottle. We will be moving away from using the one-off plastic water bottles.
Important Dates for Term Four
21st October – OSG Exams Begin for Y11-13
25th October - Labour Day
5th November – OSG Exams Finish
10th and 11th November – Year 2 student visit sites
18th/19th November – Junior and Year 9 and 10 MAP testing
10th December – Recognition of Excellence Ceremony
West Coast Campus Principal Announcement
As you are all aware, we have been actively recruiting for a replacement Campus Principal for our West Coast Campuses (Greymouth and Westport).
Following a robust recruitment process, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Casper Kruger to the role of Campus Principal at our West Coast Campus. He will work alongside myself and Mr de Beer.
Mr Kruger is an experienced educational leader who is currently the Principal at Kokatahi-Kowhitirangi School (just east of Hokitika). He has previously been the Principal at Fox Glacier School and Maruia School as well as holding senior positions in both secondary and primary schools in New Zealand and South Africa.
Mr Kruger is an experienced educational leader, with more than 20 years in management and leadership positions, and he is looking forward to using his passion for teaching and his professional knowledge to the benefit of OneSchool Global's West Coast students, teachers and families.
Mr Kruger will start with OSG at the beginning of the 2022 school year.
Cecily loved to do things that would help us learn or spark our curiosity. She would send our school supplies to us as ‘treasures’ or ‘presents’.
Before she left us, Cecily gave us one last gift. The gift was the prompt that inspired our art, and the artworks are dedicated to Cecily. We will miss her very much.

Congratulations to this week's Conquer Award winners!
Congratulations to the following silver and gold recipients.
Year 3-8 Blenheim
Year 9-13 Blenheim
The Blenheim Campus Market Day was a great success thanks to the generous support of the community.
It was fantastic to see so many people visiting our campus who we haven’t seen in a while! We look forward to putting the funds raised to good use around campus.

Another week, another type of cute animal at Blenheim campus - I demand an eggsplanation!
At the quack of dawn, students were lucky enough to have three cute Peking ducks onsite for the day, Moby Duck, Duckleberry Finn and James Pond.
Students fed the ducks worms and water (no peepsi allowed) and enjoyed cute cuddles!
We hope to have further animal visits, but Mrs Muir said she first needs to check the feather forecast....she is a wise quacker!
Perhaps next time instead of taking photos we will make a duckumentary...
Last day of Term three was a great success with many different stalls of food, games, drinks and bouquets.
Good work Year 3-10s!

Students from Nelson and the West Coast completed their First Aid training on the first day of the school holidays, Monday 4 October.
The West Coast market day was a huge success! Thank you to all those who made it a great day, students, parents and staff!

Upper South Year 13 Agribusiness Mussel Farm Trip
The Year 13 Agribusiness students were very lucky to be able to attend the Mussel farm field trip to investigate the challenges the aquaculture industry face, and the future proofing strategies used to mitigate these (AS 3.8).
It was a brilliant day – sunny and warm, perfect conditions to be on the water in the Marlborough Sounds.
Thank you very much to the parents who helped make the day possible, and Burkley and Hayden for the amazing BBQ lunch at the end!
