Welcome to New Upper South Students
Blenheim
The Blenheim Campus warmly welcomes three new Year 3 students this year – Dimity Faulkner, Lahia Clifford and Cyrus Clifford, and one new Year 4 student – Zac Johnson.
We also welcome the families of these students, who are all new to the OneSchool community.
The students have settled in well and we look forward to seeing them grow as learners at OneSchool Global.
Nelson
At the Nelson Campus we were delighted to welcome eight Year 3 new entrants and one new Year 6.
Mia Corrie Johnson has joined us in Year 6, and Dolcie Bailey, Ivy Brewerton, Rilla Brewerton, Sari Hewetson, Kansas Ivory, Diego Ivory, Aaliyah Petrie and Talian Senior are our Year 3s.
The children have settled in beautifully into their new classes and new school. All our students have really shown the OneSchool values as they have been helping their new classmates with class and school routines.
Nelson Year 7/8s would like to welcome Romer McLean (Y8) to our Upper South Campus.
Romer has moved from Invercargill. Romer has settled in seamlessly (like he has been here all along) and it’s great to have him with our wonderful bunch.
West Coast
West Coast Campus has welcomed three new students this year, Theodore Simpkin who has a sister in the class and identical twins Indi and Isla Gordon who are a new family. All are based in Greymouth.
The children have had a true OSG experience in their first few weeks. They have coped exceptionally well with learning about their new school.
They have traveled the road to Westport and worked successfully in a different environment, and they have had to learn over Zoom because of the terrible weather!
It has been a fantastic start to their OneSchool Global learning.
This year we are encouraging everyone to put in 110% in view of everyone getting their OneSchool Awards.
Below is a tracker and examples of evidence that could be used to help with this.
Traversing the Land - Year 3-6 Blenheim Excursion
The Year 3-6 students from the Blenheim Campus walked to Humphries Dam for the Traversing the Land excursion.
Despite the drizzle, the students enjoyed their walk. Once back, they had lunch at the foreshore in Picton, before enjoying a play on the playground and an ice cream.
Since we had a bit of time up our sleeves, we walked along the foreshore and over the coat hanger bridge to Shelley Beach, where the sun finally decided to come out!

Traversing the Land - Year 9-13 Upper South Excursion
The Year 9-13s from Upper South Campus gathered at Marahau where we embarked on a four hour walk to Anchorage Bay.
After relaxing and enjoying the amazing scenery we were boated back to Marahau where we returned home.
It was an amazing day!

Traversing the Land - Year 7 and 8 Upper South Excursion
Our Year 7/8s visited Tahunanui Beach and an Educator (Kelly) came from the Nelson Museum to explain how the beach has changed over the last 100 years.
We learnt about sand dunes, plantings, erosion and how to care for our beach.
We also explored the fitness equipment to kickstart our Inquiry learning, check out our videos. Go US!
At school, we had fun playing volleyball altogether.
We would like to say thanks to Kelly from the Nelson Museum for a great day!

High Jump Action - Blenheim Campus
The eagerly awaited, high jump equipment arrived at Blenheim campus over the school holidays.
Students have enjoyed practicing on the new equipment and are hoping to better their skills before athletics day.
Special thanks to all involved for making this purchase happen.
