We are busy bees the Year 7 and 8 room preparing for the Y3-8 Market Day! We are making beautiful products, creating imaginative stalls, and organising our packaging! The collaboration, problem solving, and creativity is overflowing in this learning space. We can’t wait until Market Day, and we hope to see you there!

The West Coast Y3-6 students made Kokedama balls to sell at our garden stall “Ready to Grow” at Market Day.
They were a lot of fun to make!
We have created some slide shows explaining how we made them.

Blenheim Campus Junior Open Day
The Blenheim students enjoyed having our incoming Year 3’s in for their final visit on Tuesday. It was a tough morning for the students, completing both a Pr1me placement test and a MAP Reading test. We finished off the afternoon with a game of long ball and a story. We are all looking forward to having them in our class in 2023!
West Coast Excursion day postponed
Unfortunately the West Coast students could not go on their excursion today, but they completed some challenges here onsite instead. Here they are constructing the tallest tower possible only using marshmallows and spaghetti!

The Year 3-10 students from the Blenheim Campus had a fantastic trip to Motuara Island in the Queen Charlotte Sound. This island is a predator-free wildlife sanctuary, located at the entrance to the South Island. We encountered lots of wildlife, including dolphins, sea birds, seals, native birds, and even came across Macca, the stoat-sniffing dog! The view from the top of the island was amazing, we could see across to the North Island. Upon our return to Picton, we enjoyed a burger lunch and ice block, along with a play at the foreshore.

On Monday, 21st November the Year 3 to 6 students of the Nelson site had their excursion day. This trip took them to the exciting location of the Brook Waimārama Sanctuary. The Brook Waimārama Sanctuary is a nearly 700-hectare mainland "ecological island”. The sanctuary is the largest fenced reservation for endangered plants and creatures in the South Island, and the second largest in the country. The students enjoyed exploring the reserve and learning about how introduced pests and humans have caused many of our native flora and fauna to become endangered. Some highlights were drinking water from a spring, checking out wetas in their ‘hotels’, and learning about how they identify and trap pests within the sanctuary.

'Eggcellent' news from the Blenheim Campus
'Eggciting’ .....Olly’s eggs have hatched. He got them from Rai Petrie on Sunday 23rd October and put them in his incubator in the Science lab at our campus .
On Monday 14th there was great ‘Eggcitement’ as the chicks began to hatch.
Tuesday morning the Blenheim kids were very ‘eggcited’ to hear some ‘peep peep peeping’ from the science room – they had arrived!

This week we finished our November round of MAP testing, the last for the year.
You can expect to see in your inbox a copy of your children’s Family Report for this round of testing; Reading, Maths and Language Usage.
Teachers will use this Family Report and the online Student Profile report at the three-way conferences being held on Wednesday 30th November. The focus for these conferences will be on sharing your children’s achievement and growth.
We trust that this Family Report will make it easier to see not only how your child is achieving but also how they are growing.
All students can grow, no matter where they are academically.
