For the first few weeks of Term 1 we have been learning about cells and how they grow and operate. To study cells in a practical sense we have decided to do a garden so we can see what the plants do over time. To make our investigation even more interesting, we are going to treat different sides of our gardens differently and see how it affects their growth rate and production. For example, we will give one side of the garden two litres of water per day but then give the other side four litres a day. Overall, we think it’s a great way to learn about how cells grow and develop, and we look forward to seeing what our gardens yield.

Amazing artwork from Year 5-6. We wrote poems about ourselves then crayon and dyed a background.

On Monday 17 February the challenge was set. This was an egg and spoon race followed by a food eating competition. Competitors had to eat in order, a lemon (skin removed) a dry weetbix, a whole red onion followed lastly by a pear. Below are just a few of the photos of a great time had by all.
Congratulations Warriors Boys on a fine win, followed by Troopers and then Raiders.
A fantastic house challenge today which all students took part in. A tough challenge to judge but the overall winners went to Warriors followed by Troopers and a close 3rd to Raiders.
Headsets Requirements for all Year 9-13 Students
It is a requirement that all students own a quality headset to participate in zoom classes. There are many options available on the market and we recommend students make their own choice of headset which will also help them take ownership for the care of the headset.
If your student does not yet own a headset, it is very important a set is purchased as soon as possible.
We highly recommend headsets with the following specifications to get the best audio quality:
- Noise-Cancelling
- Connects to a device with USB connection (Not Bluetooth or Headphone Jack input)
- Has a mouthpiece
Below are our recommendations with the different listed prices for each set of headphones from our IT team, if you wish to purchase some online:
- Option 1 Mighty Ape Headset: $25.00
- Option 2 PB Tech :$68.94
- Option 3 PB Tech :$69.00
- Option 4 PB Tech :$48.99
- Option 5 PB Tech :$69.00
Please feel free to email our IT team for any questions, or further headset recommendations: it.support@nz.oneschoolglobal.com.
Y3-6 Westport and Greymouth students were challenged to create a Word Spider in groups, that met very specific criteria. It was great to see how much their collaboration skills have improved and how resilient they have become when there are problems. Their spiders are awesome!

This is the Year 3-6 Westport class doing gardening with Mr David. He teaches us all about what plants to grow and how to look after them.
We got to pick some delicious cucumbers today.
