Cocina Española - Year 3-8 Blenheim
For our final Spanish lesson for the year, we decided to cook a Spanish feast!
We had three different groups, each making something different.
The first group made an entrée of tortillas, the next group made paella for the main, and the final group made churros with chocolate sauce for dessert.
Everything turned out fantastically and we were all very full afterwards!

Book Week - Blenheim and West Coast Campuses
The Year 3-6 students from the Blenheim and West Coast campuses have been taking part in book week. They worked collaboratively across sites to plan and prepare for this event.
Throughout the week, the students had special guests come in to read to them, they completed book-related thinkers’ keys, they launched their recipe book “Masterchef Memories”, and the grand finale – everyone took part in a book character dress-up day. This was a fantastic learning opportunity, and we look forward to doing it again in the future.
If you’d like to get your hands on one of the last few copies of the recipe book, please let Mrs. Gilbert, Mrs. Ritchie or Mrs. Winitana know ASAP.
Y7-10 Beach Safety - Blenheim and Nelson Campuses
Blenheim and Nelson Year 7-10 students went to Rabbit Island for their excursion day.
We were lucky enough to have the Surf Lifesaving team teach us about beach safety.
Then we headed to Rabbit Island for sandcastle building, games and water-based learning activities.
Here are some photos of our awesome day.

Y3-6 Lochmara Visit - Blenheim and Nelson Campuses
The Year 3 – 6 students from the Blenheim and Nelson campuses had a great time at Lochmara recently, as part of their wildlife excursion.
They were able to experience a wide variety of wildlife including kunekune pigs, goats, sheep, chickens, bees, eels, as well as being up to get up close with New Zealand’s endangered kakariki.
They were also able to observe and interact with some sea creatures, both in the underwater observatory and in the touch tank. This included paua, kina, sea stars, sea cucumbers, fish, crayfish, and some lucky students were even able to hand feed some stingrays!
A huge thank you to all the parents, grandparents and other family members who supported us with transport and supervision on this trip.

Y13 Last Day - Blenheim Campus
On 17th November, Chad, Wilson, Ayrton and Teagan had their last day at Blenheim Campus.
The seniors started off their day at Simcox Stadium for rounds of bowling and then came back to an excellent Mexican feast prepared by Rilla Beatson and her team of helpers. The set up and effort put into this day for the Year 13s was incredible!
All the best for your future years Chad, Wilson, Ayrton and Teagan!

Tourism Rap Videos - Y3-6 West Coast
One of our tasks this term, was to write a rap about a tourist attraction on the West Coast close to Greymouth or Westport.
We were allowed to work by ourselves or in pairs. We loved writing the rap, but sometimes it was challenging because if we couldn’t find any rhyming words, then we would have to rearrange the sentence.
We had to record ourselves saying the rap to the beat. One of our challenges this term was to be able to speak clearly over Zoom, so this was a chance to practice how to do this. It was hard to record ourselves saying the rap because we kept saying the words wrong or out of time.
Next time we would try to speak more clearly and say the ends of our words when we speak. We know now that we have to say the ends of our words and we can use this learning for when we have to record something else, talk over Zoom, or recite speeches to a crowd.
A new thing we learned is that sometimes when it feels like you are saying the ends of your words, you aren’t. We had a lot of fun completing this task.
