It is now official and the 5th season of the Global House Cup is complete! Throughout the years this program has grown tremendously and this is the first full season where all of OSG participated in all six months!
Would the Green Warriors defend their Season two, three, and four wins? Would the Yellow Raiders remind everyone that they were the Season one winner and they want their title back? Or would the Red Troopers, who have been so close to winning, finally claim the top spot?
The students in North America, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Europe, and the UK competed for six months from January 1st to June 30th. During this time frame we had a record 143,572 submissions by teachers showcasing how our students went above and beyond in displaying the OneSchool Values of Care and Compassion, Commitment, Respect, Responsibility, and Integrity.
Here is a breakdown of the OSG Global House Cup points this season:
Care and Compassion: 14,319
Respect: 17,175
Responsibility: 36,509
Integrity: 19,204
Commitment: 56,365
Even with 143,572 submissions the competition was very close and only separated by a few hundred points! Without further ado...
- Red Troopers – 48,024
- Green Warriors – 47,812
- Yellow Raiders – 47,736
Way to go Red Troopers! It has been a great season and CONGRATULATIONS to all teams and good luck in Season 6 (July 1 – December 31st)!
Thank you to the staff for taking the time to recognize our students, our parents for positively reinforcing this recognition, and for the students for consistently going above and beyond expectations!
Last term we held an Upper South Photo Competition for all year 9’s and 10’s at Marlborough, Tasman and West Coast. YEAR 3 - 6
Room 1 have been studying Ancient Egypt. Here are some examples of our art work.

YEAR 7 - 8
In Term 2 and the beginning of Term 3 West Coast and Blenheim Year 7 - 8 students have been reading The Incredible Journey novel and completing activities along the way. We have now finished reading and completing activities related to the novel. We are going to watch The Incredible Journey movie and complete a comparison between reading the story and viewing the movie. It will be interesting to hear their views after watching the film.
Here are some published activities from both the Blenheim and West Coast Yr 7&8 class.
I have seen great engagement in the novel and they have produced some outstanding power points which demonstrates their learning through the story.
Well done to you all.
BLENHEIM CAMPUS FARM PARK
Dash, an orphaned lamb, from Mrs Muir's farm has recently visited us. The students enjoyed looking after and feeding Dash for a couple of days.
Jett Clifford also bought his pet rabbit Russell in for a day. Russell manage to escape the enclosure the students made for him but he was captured again and put under tighter security!

YEAR 3 - 6
The wonderful creativity of the Nelson Campus juniors was on display during the final week of Term 2 when they held their art exhibition. This was the culmination of two terms of work around the theme, “Change”. The students had found inspiration from their visits to Motueka Sandspit in Term 2. With the expert support and encouragement of Nelson artist Tina Hanrahan, they experimented with a number of techniques and media including collage, charcoal, pastel, acrylic paint and model making. With huge support from parents, especially Nicola Malcolm, Tina curated and framed the work then finally hung the art for viewing by school and community.
YEAR 7 - ALGEBRA MATHS
YEAR 9 - 10
On Thursday 4th July, the Year 9 - 10’s helped the local Tasman District Council plant trees in the estuary next to our campus. This was organised by Doug Brooks, our Horticulture and Science teacher here at Tasman.

As part of Health & Safety each Campus has a Traffic Management Plan. These are currently getting reviewed but we would like to remind everyone of a few things that have come up:
- Please reverse into all designated parks on school grounds.
- The pick up/drop off area is for that only - please do not park there for extended periods of time.
- Speed is kept at 10kmph.
- Before and after school is a busy time, always expect the unexpected.
- Don't rush, as it's is only a few seconds you are saving.
- Have consideration for others.
